Michigan Football Injury Status Of DT Still Uncertain

On Monday, the No. 1 Wolverines downed the No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide in a thrilling Rose Bowl matchup, which sends them to the national championship game to face No. 2 Washington for all the marbles. Against Bama, a new Michigan football injury occurred: sophomore defensive tackle Rayshaun Benny went down, and with no update since the Wolverines’ impressive win, some fear that Benny may miss the title game as well.

Michigan football injury status of Rayshaun Benny still uncertain following Rose Bowl

The Michigan football defense has some studs along its impressive defensive line; however, on Monday, Rayshaun Benny went down. While Benny is not a starter this fall, he has still been impactful for the Wolverines, recording 27 tackles, six tackles for loss, and one sack while appearing in all 14 of Michigan’s games this fall.

It is still yet to be clarified by the University of Michigan football program what exactly Benny’s injury is, though it did not look pretty, and it sidelined him for the remainder of the Wolverines’ thrilling overtime win over Alabama this week. It’s also worth noting that Benny was not putting any weight in his injured leg while being helped off the field.

Seeing as the title game is in just a few days, there are questions still swirling about what Benny’s status will be against Washington next Monday.

We will likely get an update as soon as Wednesday, though his status may remain in question all the way up until game time against Washington in the program’s first-ever National Championship Game next week. Either way, expect more clarity later this week on whether or not the sophomore defensive tackle will see game action against the Huskies.
