There has been a lot of Michigan football injury news this fall, especially when it comes to star players like Rod Moore and others. Yesterday, Jim Harbaugh updated us on how Moore is doing right now and broke down how the Wolverines have some “superhuman” players who can battle through injury.

Rod Moore is seeing some very limited action for the Wolverines right now — he saw just 17 snaps against Nebraska, the fewest of any Michigan football safety in Week 5. That said, Jim Harbaugh gave an update on the star defensive back yesterday, and it sounds like his injury is coming along well.

Additionally, Harbaugh says that there are some players — such as Rod Moore — that are simply “superheroes, superhuman,” and more.

“You can, you can rest assured that there’s somebody, multiple guys, that are working through something,” Jim Harbaugh said, giving a general Michigan football injury update on Monday.” And guys defy human capacity to play sometimes.

“You know, definitely almost superhero, superhuman in that way,” he continued. “They get the treatment, they get the rehab, they find a pad that protects them. Just the ability to count whatever that time of being out would have been for a normal person; football players seem to have that ability. Some even more than others. Mike Sainristil right now, it’s freaky. It’s freaky in that way. The Green brothers are like that, I think I was like that.”

Michigan football having this “freaky” ability to battle injury should be good for the program down the stretch. For the time being, there is no need to force Rod Moore and others into the game, though matchups against teams like Penn State and Ohio State are going to roll around, and there will undoubtedly be a few stars that need to play through injury.

Last fall, Donovan Edwards was the most notable Michigan football standout to play through injury. He had a knee issue and a broken hand, yet still ran for over 200 yards against the Buckeyes, leading to a 45-23 victory in Columbus. He did more of the same the following weekend against Purdue in the Big Ten Championship Game — Michigan’s second conference title win in as many years.
