One of the top Ohio State recruiting targets in the 2024 class is four-star defensive back Bryce West, who currently appears to be leaning towards picking the Buckeyes. However, he is also a major target for Michigan football recruiting, and recent reports indicate that the Wolverines are still heavily involved in his recruitment. Despite his inclination towards the Buckeyes, Jim Harbaugh and his Wolverines may be able to make a significant push and potentially lure him away.

Michigan football recruiting reportedly still a major player for top Ohio State target

The Michigan football recruiting class is currently ranked No. 1 in the nation, with 16 hard commits and counting. The majority of Michigan’s recruits are four and five-star prospects, including five-star QB Jadyn Davis, who is considered the crown jewel of the class. Bryce West is among the top remaining recruits being pursued by both Ohio State and Michigan. While the Buckeyes currently have favorable odds, recent reports suggest that the Wolverines should not be underestimated.

Bryce West has recently scheduled his official visits for this summer, with both Michigan football and Ohio State being recipients. Michigan will have the first visit on June 9th. According to West himself, both Michigan and Ohio State are top schools in his recruitment, with the USC Trojans also making a strong push.

Top-recruit holes interest in the Michigan Wolverines

Hailing from Cleveland, OH, Bryce West is a highly regarded four-star defensive back prospect. He ranks at No. 54 nationally, No. 6 among cornerbacks, and No. 2 among Ohio recruits in the 2024 cycle. As a top regional prospect, West has garnered significant national interest, although Michigan and Ohio State seem to have a clear advantage over other competitors.

In the past, this might have seemed like a long shot, but the tide has turned in Michigan’s favor, as evidenced by their top-ranked recruiting class. They have already secured one top in-state recruit from Ohio State in the 2024 class and could be aiming for another with Bryce West. Currently, West holds high regard for Michigan, Ohio State, and USC, but he also suggests that he may have an idea of where he’s leaning. If this highly sought-after Michigan football recruit commits to the Wolverines, it would further alter the momentum of the UM-OSU rivalry.
