In 2024, the Oregon Ducks will be moving to the Big Ten Conference from the dying PAC-12. While Oregon just landed a major transfer portal quarterback — Dillon Gabriel from Oklahoma — the Ducks dipped back into the portal, taking a major Michigan football target this evening: former five-star quarterback Dante Moore.

Top Michigan football transfer portal target commits to the Oregon Ducks

Dante Moore, the No. 1 recruit in Michigan in the class of 2023, is coming off of a rocky season with UCLA, where he was given the starting nod as a true freshman this fall. When Moore first hit the transfer portal, the Wolverines were quick to offer him, which was expected given how hard U-M pushed for Moore’s commitment out of high school and JJ McCarthy’s pending NFL Draft decision, which will be made after the College Football Playoff.

While Dante Moore was once a priority transfer target for Michigan football, the Oregon Ducks ultimately came out on top, per a Monday evening announcement from Hayes Fawcett of On3.

Of course, Michigan football has a number of other great options when it comes to quarterbacks for 2024, and will not need a transfer QB if JJ McCarthy decides to return next fall. Still, not getting Moore is a slight blow, especially since Michigan is still without a portal commitment to this point.

Michigan football will face both Dante Moore and Dillon Gabriel next November when the Oregon Ducks come to Ann Arbor for a Big Ten bout between the two schools for the first time ever.
