Michigan football recruiting is heating up right now. The Wolverines currently boast the nation’s top-ranked 2024 recruiting class and recently secured their 17th commitment of the cycle. Yesterday evening, they added another recruit to their roster. On the second day of June, head coach Jim Harbaugh is preparing to host one of his key recruiting targets for the current cycle, Brian Robinson, on an official visit.

This visit holds immense importance for Michigan football recruiting for several reasons. It is crucial for the Wolverines to make a strong push during this visit in order to secure Robinson’s commitment.

Despite Robinson trending heavily for the Wolverines, he has an upcoming visit to Penn State shortly after his trip to Ann Arbor. The Nittany Lions are also looking to make a strong push for his commitment in June. If the Wolverines don’t secure his commitment before he heads to State College, James Franklin, a talented recruiter, may still have a shot at locking him down.

According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, Michigan football is an overwhelming favorite for his commitment right now, boasting a 70.2% chance. Robinson has been a major priority for the Wolverines this cycle, so it comes as no surprise that Jim Harbaugh is in the driver’s seat. That being said, Kentucky and Penn State sit at No. 2 and No. 3 respectively, and both will be looking to land him over the summer.

Michigan will have the first opportunity to secure a commitment since his official visit is scheduled for the beginning of June (June 2). According to a recent report from On3, Robinson claims that he is getting close to making a decision about his recruitment but has not chosen a school yet. If Michigan football recruiting plays its cards right, he will be in the Maize and Blue next fall.

Following his initial official visit to Ann Arbor, Robinson will head to Kentucky and then Penn State. For this reason, the Wolverines need to secure his commitment before any other team has a chance to do so. If he leaves Ann Arbor without committing, it is not a definitive indication that he will choose another school, but it is also a step in the wrong direction for Michigan if it wants to maintain its top-ranked status throughout June.
