This weekend, the Michigan football offense will face its greatest challenge yet as it looks to overcome a stingy Ohio State defense. On Tuesday, we heard from Zak Zinter, who hinted that Sherrone Moore and the Wolverines may have some new plays dialed up for “The Game” this weekend.

Sherrone Moore and Michigan football offense prepped to face No. 2 Ohio State

The talk of the town right now is how good Jesse Minter and the Wolverines’ defense has been all season long. Through 11 games of the 2023 season, Michigan’s defensive unit ranks No. 1 in scoring defense and No. 1 in total defense, never allowing more than Maryland’s 24 points, which were scored against U-M in a Week 12 road game the weekend after Penn State and the weekend before Ohio State.

While the Wolverines’ defense is undoubtedly elite, the same can be said about Ohio State, which has the No. 2 scoring defense, the No. 3 total defense, and the No. 19 rushing defense heading into “The Game.” If Sherrone Moore and Michigan football want to overcome the Buckeyes on Saturday, spicing things up will be very important.

Zak Zinter explains

On Tuesday, Michigan football offensive lineman Zak Zinter — one of the top linemen in the sport right now — hinted that the Michigan football offense may have some new plays coming against Ohio State this weekend.

“Yeah, I mean, we obviously have watched all of the games that (Ohio State) plays, and they watch all of the games that we play. So, obviously, they are not gonna show something that they are gonna give us — they’re gonna have a new blitz (or) something for us. … We’re gonna have something that they haven’t seen (too), obviously. It’s a part of the game; it gives both ways.”

This weekend, when No. 3 Michigan football and No. 2 Ohio State face off, be on the lookout for offensive coordinator and acting head coach Sherrone Moore to dial up something that has never been seen before.
