LOS ANGELES — Every time that Jim Harbaugh has won a Big Ten title at Michigan, he has flirted with the NFL in the following offseason; in 2023, it appears that this trend may remain the same. As Harbaugh-NFL rumors continue to fly, Michigan football QB JJ McCarthy, the conference’s Quarterback of the Year, shared his support for his head coach regardless of where he ends up next.

Could Jim Harbaugh head to the NFL after the 2023 season? Well, it’s certainly possible, though all of that remains to be seen, and he is undoubtedly locked in on the task at hand: beating Alabama in the Rose Bowl.

With both Harbaugh and his quarterback, JJ McCarthy, about to make NFL decisions, the Michigan football QB shared public support for Harbaugh regardless of what comes next.

“If (Jim Harbaugh) wants to take that opportunity (to go back to the National Football League), go do it,” JJ McCarthy said on Friday. “That is one of his dreams, and he’s done it before. But still, that’s a tremendous honor to be in that position. We’ve got to focus on what we have to do. I think we’ve done a good job of that.”

McCarthy also shared a main message when it comes to NFL rumors surrounding both Harbaugh and himself: the goal right now is to win Monday’s Rose Bowl game, and nothing else matters in the minds of the Wolverines.

That said, regardless of what 9th-year Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh decides to do next fall, he will have the support of his quarterback, JJ McCarthy.
