This weekend, the Michigan Wolverines came away with a dominating victory over Indiana, winning 52-7 at home. Although the game was a noon kickoff, Michigan played under the lights because of the overcast weather and rainfall. With poor fall weather approaching, Michigan football can expect the game-time conditions to worsen as the season goes on. However, for Michigan football quarterback JJ McCarthy, the weather shouldn’t be an issue.

Michigan football quarterback JJ McCarthy is unfazed when playing in bad weather

After another dominant performance on Saturday, McCarthy was asked how the conditions were during the game against Indiana. McCarthy responded, “I didn’t think it was that nasty actually. It felt like just this past week on Tuesday.” He added,  “And something that Coach Harbaugh said, like, ‘No matter what, if it’s a hurricane out there, we’re still gonna sling that rock.'”

Despite the rainy conditions, McCarthy completed 82.4 percent of his passes for 222 yards and three touchdowns. He also contributed another 27 yards through the run game.

McCarthy was clearly unfazed by the weather and attributed his success to his early days playing football in his home state of Illinois. “So you know, it just speaks testament to where I grew up and being from Chicago and just having to deal with that all my life,” McCarthy said, adding, “It’s just like a second nature to me.”

While the conditions were slippery this weekend, this will certainly not be the worst weather Michigan football will see. The Wolverines still have two more home games remaining, with the final game being on November, 25 against Ohio State. As temperatures drop in the final weeks of the season, McCarthy is more than ready to continue his dominance on the field.
