Next weekend, the Wolverines are going to be hosting many of the nation’s top prospects. For Michigan football recruiting, July 29th is a date to watch, as Jim Harbaugh will be hosting a major Penn State target from the 2025 class: the No. 1 recruit in Connecticut, Adam Shovlin.

Another major visitor is coming for Michigan football recruiting

According to the ON3 recruiting rankings, Adam Shovlin is a four-star defensive line target in the class of 2025; he ranks among the nation’s top 200 prospects, coming in at No. 172 in the country, No. 17 among defensive linemen, and No. 1 in his state.

Right now, fellow Big Ten teams — primarily Rutgers and Penn State — are hot on the trail with Shovlin, though the Wolverines may have a chance to get things going in his recruitment next weekend. On the 29th, Shovlin is slated to be in Ann Arbor for an unofficial visit; the Wolverines are among the top 5 in the Recruiting Prediction Machine and could continue to rise with a successful visit in Ann Arbor next weekend.

Shovlin is a product of St. Thomas More High School and is a native of Pennsylvania. The Nittany Lions have been dominant when it comes to in-state and regional recruiting along eastern states such as Connecticut and New Jersey — if the Wolverines can get a foot in the door and poach him away from James Franklin and many other top competitors, it would undeniably be a huge victory for Michigan football recruiting in the 2025 cycle.

This visit will be Shovlin’s second trip to Ann Arbor — his first came last month, and reportedly went well.
