At the end of November, the Michigan Wolverines football team beat Ohio State for the third season in a row — as fans rushed the field, elite four-star wide receiver target Gatlin Bair was in attendance. A week later, Bair de-committed from Boise State, announcing that he would rather focus on two different schools: the Oregon Ducks and the Michigan Wolverines. Ahead of National Signing Day for the 2024 recruiting class, it appears that Jim Harbaugh and Michigan football recruiting are close to a major commitment, currently holding a late lead in Bair’s recruitment.
Michigan football recruiting closing in on ex-Boise State commit
Michigan football has wanted Gatlin Bair to commit for quite some time, and despite missing on him back in the summer when he first committed to Boise State, it appears that the Wolverines have a second chance. With the CFp approaching, only two schools remain in the race — Michigan and Oregon — though the safe bet is that he goes Maize and Blue by National Signing Day.
Presently, here are two crystal ball predictions for Gatlin Bair — both are for Michigan football recruiting to land his commitment. Additionally, with less than 60 days until the 2024 recruiting class puts pen to paper and locks in their commitments, the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine gives Michigan an 81.5% chance of landing the elite four-star Idaho prospect. For reference, the next-closest team is Oregon, which has a 12.5% chance and no crystal balls.
Jim Harbaugh looking to add elite prospect Gatlin bair to his 2024 recruiting class
Gatlin Bair is widely regarded as the fastest recruit in America right now, even breaking state track records in Idaho last spring. While he plans on taking a two-year mission after his senior season of high school football, making him more of a class of 2026 prospect than anything, the Wolverines would love to add his commitment as soon as possible.
247 Sports lists Gatlin Bair as a four-star prospect in the class of 2024, ranking him as the No. 36 player nationally, the No. 10 wide receiver in his class, and the No. 1 prospect in the state of Idaho.
