Michigan football recruiting is red hot right now, perhaps more so than it has ever been under current head coach Jim Harbaugh, who is heading into year 9 of his tenure this fall. With the No. 2 overall class in the country, only Ohio State and Penn State have a shot at keeping pace among Big Ten programs. That being said, the Maize and Blue appear to be in a fierce recruiting battle with Nebraska over one of its top remaining offensive targets: four-star wide receiver Gatlin Bair out of Idaho.

Last month, Gatlin Bair announced his final five remaining schools. Of these final programs, Michigan football managed to make the cut alongside some stout competition, most notably the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Right now, the ON3 Recruiting Prediction Machine heavily favors Matt Ruhl and the Huskers; however, Jim Harbaugh and company still have plenty of time to turn things around.

Bair’s best attribute is his speed, which makes him a massive threat for all opposing defenses. Of his final college choices — including Nebraska, Michigan, Boise State, Oregon, and TCU — the Wolverines appear to stand out when it comes to the future outlook of the program. Still, a Big Ten foe has Bair’s attention, which could be problematic for Michigan later this summer.

Summer could be a major turning point for Gatlin Bair and the Wolverines

Four-star Gatlin Bair ranks as the No. 61 player in the country, according to the Industry Rankings, as well as being the No. 12 wide receiver and the No. 1 recruit in the state of Idaho. Luckily for the Wolverines, there is already an official visit scheduled for June 23rd, which further highlights how important June could be for the Michigan Wolverines.

This summer will go a long way in deciding the future fate of four-star Gatlin Bair, a top offensive Michigan football recruiting target, and this Big Ten battle is one that Maize and Blue fans should be keeping an eye on as the summer progresses.
