Michigan football recruiting is on a tear right now, landing all kinds of high-caliber commits and more thus far in the 2024 recruiting class. To this point, Michigan has secured 17 hard commitments, including five-star QB Jadyn Davis, and boasts the nation’s No. 1 class. In recent news, the Wolverines have yet another big-name recruit with loads of interest in the Maize and Blue: four-star EDGE Darien Mayo.

Michigan football recruiting makes top-6 for major four-star EDGE

Yesterday, four-star EDGE Darien Mayo announced six finalists in his recruitment ahead of official visit season in June. Michigan football is among the final six along with Ohio State and a few others.

The 6-foot-7, 255-pound defensive end is one of the most sought-after recruits in the nation right now, rated as a top four-star recruit by ON3. According to ON3’s rankings, Mayo ranks among the top 90 recruits nationally, coming in at No. 89 in the nation, the No. 8 EDGE in the 2024 class, and the No. 2 recruit in the state of Maryland.

Currently, Ohio State leads in his recruitment according to the ON3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, though the Wolverines are a close second. Apart from Michigan, the other five programs to land among his final six are Ohio State, USC, Clemson, South Carolina, and Maryland.
