Earlier this week, during National Signing Day, the latest Michigan football recruiting class officially inked their commitment to play for Jim Harbaugh and his elite-caliber program. Following Michigan’s impressive recruiting run on Wednesday, going 27/27 on their commits/signees, the Wolverines earned more positive recruiting news with a major four-star offensive line target: Chauncey Gooden of the 2025 recruiting class.

At a glace, it may appear that Ohio State and others are out-recruiting Michigan football by a lot; however, a closer look will show that Jim Harbaugh and his Wolverines are doing just fine. Why? Well, Michigan is recruiting two key positions better than just about anyone in the nation: the offensive and defensive lines.

Per an announcement on Friday afternoon, Michigan football recruiting is still among the top contenders for one of the top offensive line targets in the country: four-star guard Chauncey Gooden, who announced his top 10 remaining schools.

Alongside the Maize and Blue are nine other solid programs, including Oregon, Oklahoma, Georgia, Tennessee, Clemson, and more. While the Wolverines are still a bit behind in his recruitment, On3 shows that Jim Harbaugh and Michigan are yet to get Gooden in Ann Arbor for a visit to this point — this could be a major factor in his recruitment down the stretch.

Per the latest recruiting rankings, Chauncey Gooden is a four-star offensive guard out of Nashville, TN. He is rated as a composite four-star, and ranks as the No. 156 player nationally, the No. 8 interior lineman, and the No. 4 player in the state of Tennessee for the 2025 recruiting class.
