Earlier this week, we heard from Michigan football star wide receiver Roman Wilson, a senior for the Maize and Blue, ahead of the Wolverines’ College Football Playoff date against the Alabama Crimson Tide on New Year’s Day. There, Wilson, who is heading into his third straight CFP appearance with the Maize and Blue, briefed us on what he sees from Bama’s defense on film thus far.

We heard from Michigan football star Roman Wilson this week

Roman Wilson is one of the top wide receivers of the Jim Harbaugh era in Ann Arbor — he has never been the biggest guy on the field, though his quickness, hands, and heart make up for any lacking size.

While Alabama is more talented than Michigan football on paper, Wilson and his Wolverines are unphased by the challenge of downing a major opponent like the Crimson Tide; they’ve been here before, though after falling short twice in a row, Michigan is more locked in than ever on advancing to the team’s first-ever national championship game.

“I think (Alabama’s) corners are really good; they’ve got three of them that they rotate and I like watching all three,” Roman Wilson said. “I think they are physical on the line, they run really well, and I think they are just good overall.”

The Michigan football star wide receiver also noted that Alabama plays a lot of cover-two man coverage – something that you don’t really see much of in the Big Ten Conference. He then gave insight into how he plans on attacking an elite Alabama secondary.

“You just go right at them – no fear,” Roman Wilson said. “You show them who you are. Don’t be scared. Don’t flinch.”

Michigan football gearing up for third straight CFP bout

On New Year’s Day, Roman Wilson and Michigan football will take the field for the first time since their 26-0 win over Iowa in the Big Ten title game. While the Wolverines are yet to win – or even hold a lead in, for that matter – a College Football Playoff game, this year’s team feels different.

Just as we saw against top-ranked defenses like Ohio State, Penn State, and Iowa, Michigan football wide receiver Roman Wilson plans on attacking Alabama head-on, perhaps leading to a national championship game berth for the first time in the program’s long and storied history.
