Yesterday, the Big Ten announced its future home and away opponents for each of its 18 members through the 2028 season. Taking a closer look at this Michigan football schedule release, a few games stand out right away — teams like Ohio State, USC, Washington, Oregon, and more are prominent road games to be excited for.

Michigan football schedule: Future road games to be excited for

Here are some of the future Michigan football road games that you should have circled on your calenders when dates and times are announced.

2024

The 2024 Michigan football schedule is brutal, and while the Wolverines are only slated for four Big Ten road games, there are two that stand out quite a bit: Ohio State and Washington. Obviously, playing in Columbus is going to be a massive test, though the Wolverines are also slated to make the trip west to face Washington — a road trip that Michigan has not made since 2001.

2025

In 2025, Michigan football has three big road games: Nebraska, USC, and Michigan State. While the Huskers and Spartans will likely not be too big of a test, those are both prominent Big Ten matchups and should be harsh environments for the Wolverines to play in. Additionally, 2025 will be Michigan’s first time making the trip to Los Angeles during Big Ten expansion, and seeing as the Trojans are on the rise right now, that should be a great matchup.

2026

The 2026 Michigan football schedule has two major Big Ten road games: at Ohio State and at Oregon. Again, a Week 13 matchup in Columbus needs no explanation; however, when it comes to the Ducks, it will be the Wolverines’ first time playing in Eugene since 2003. It’s worth noting that the 2003 season is the only time that Michigan has played at Oregon.

2027

The 2027 Big Ten road slate is tough for Michigan football, though unlike some of the other road schedules listed above, it features more traditional matchups. Michigan football will play five Big Ten road games in 2027, with four of them — Iowa, Michigan State, UCLA, and Penn State — being major matchups. 2027 will notably be Michigan’s first trip to Happy Valley since this season, and will be the Wolverines’ first trip to Iowa since 2022.

2028

Michigan football has four Big Ten road games in 2028, and all of them are eye-catching. The Wolverines will play Ohio State, Purdue, Wisconsin, and Washington — all of which should be great matchups for the Maize and Blue. It will be Michigan’s first trip to Wisconsin since 2021 and its first trip to Purdue since 2017 — both games that the Maize and Blue won.

If you like to travel with Michigan football for Big Ten road games, start saving up because getting from game to game is going to be a bit more expensive as the Wolverines fly nationwide for conference play starting next fall.
