Michigan football star linebacker Junior Colson had a solid year for the Wolverines in 2022 and is coming off of an injury heading into the 2023 season. Colson is expected to be back at 100% by the start of the season and is being touted as one of the top defensive players in the nation. According to Phil Steele, Colson is a preseason second-team All-American ahead of the Wolverines’ 2023 campaign.

Michigan football star linebacker earns preseason All-American honors

Junior Colson is a two-year letterman with the Maize and Blue, appearing in 28 games and making 21 starts during his two seasons with the Wolverines thus far. In 2022, Colson was named an All-Big Ten selection by the coaches and media. In 2023, Phil Steele believes that this Michigan football star linebacker can be an All-American.

Last year, Junior Colson appeared in all 14 of Michigan’s games, making 101 tackles, six tackles for loss, and recording two sacks. Despite working through an injury throughout the offseason, Junior Colson appears poised to be a top performer in the Big Ten and beyond. Alongside Colson will be many other talented linebackers and defenders, such as Nebraska transfer portal addition Erenst Hausmann.

Junior Colson could lead the way to a national title in 2023

This fall, as the Wolverines pursue another conference title, College Football Playoff berth, and more, Michigan football star linebacker Junior Colson must continue to improve and take on more responsibility throughout the coming year.

While preseason All-American honors are nice, Colson and the Wolverines are well aware that no preseason honor or betting line means anything until it materializes during the season. Now, Michigan football must prove the nation right and push for the sport’s biggest award: a national championship.
