Ahead of the 2023 college football season, many Wolverines are being touted as some of the top players in the entire country. For Michigan football star Blake Corum, a senior running back who was almost a Heisman finalist in 2022 despite a knee injury in Week 12, he is being hailed as the No. 1 candidate for this year’s Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year Award.

Can Michigan football star Blake Corum win Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year?

Last season, Michigan football star running back Blake Corum won the Big Ten’s most prestigious award: the Silver Football. The season before, Aidan Hutchinson, 2021’s Heisman Trophy runner-up, won the award. This year, with his knee injury healed and “stronger than ever,” Blake Corum appears poised for a massive season in the Maize and Blue.

Blake Corum is an elite talent, there is no doubt about that. But can he carry the Wolverines to a national title? That is this season’s biggest question — the Wolverines have come close two seasons in a row but fell just short both times. Ahead of this crucial season, it appears that Corum could very well be this year’s top offensive player in the Big Ten conference, as he has been identified as the No. 1 candidate for the award by Saturday Tradition.

Last season, Blake Corum led Michigan football to a 10-0 record before being sidelined for Michigan’s three most important games — Ohio State, the Big Ten Championship Game, and the College Football Playoff. Still, he rushed for close to 1,500 yards and a whopping 18 touchdowns. If he can avoid injury this fall, there is a chance that Corum and the Wolverines could once again be among the nation’s premier teams, claiming another conference championship and more in the months to come.
