Aidan Hutchinson was a Michigan football legend in Ann Arbor, standing out as a top defensive edge rusher for the Wolverines for many years. Hutchinson’s best year was in 2021 when the former superstar defender broke records and led his team to a Big Ten title game victory and a College Football Playoff berth — both firsts for the program. Recently, this former Michigan standout broke down his thoughts on why this year’s team may be the one to win the Wolverines a national title.

Aidan Hutchinson is a Michigan football legend and has significantly improved the quality of football being played in the state. From his stellar seasons in Ann Arbor to a breakout rookie year with the Detroit Lions last fall, few players have meant more to the state of Michigan than Hutchinson has thus far.

Recently, on the Rich Eisen Show, Aidan Hutchinson had a lot to say about his alma mater’s shot at winning it all this year — Michigan football has come close twice in a row, yet remains without a title game appearance so far.

“I can’t be heartbroken again at the playoffs,” Michigan football legend Aidan Hutchinson said on The Rich Eisen Show. “Just that last year (against) TCU, that should have never ever, ever been at a loss. But I think the boys are gonna turn the page. I think the boys got a chance to win. I hope they get over that semi-final hurdle. I think if they win the (semifinal), the boys win it all … They gotta get over that first-round hurdle. But I think expectations are through the roof. (They have) all the talent in the world, same coaching staff, like nothing should change.”

During the 2023 college football season, the Maize and Blue will be looking to fulfill these high hopes. At the same time, Aidan Hutchinson will be looking to lead the Detroit Lions to the NFL Playoffs for the first time in many years.

This year is likely Jim Harbaugh’s best team on paper as the head coach of Michigan football, and with everything on the line right now, only time will tell how this season will pan out for the Maize and Blue when all is said and done.
