Since taking over a 5-7 team in late 2014, Jim Harbaugh has entirely turned the Michigan football program around, going 10-3 in his first season and winning a national title in his most recent season. After nine years in Ann Arbor, it appears that Harbaugh has a lot of interest in heading back to the NFL; in fact, per the latest reports from Adam Schefter, the Wolverines’ legendary head coach will be meeting with the LA Chargers for a second time this week.
Latest update as NFL looks to steal Jim Harbaugh from Michigan football
After Jim Harbaugh interviewed with the LA Chargers for the first time, rumors flew around on social media that the interview did not go well. Yet, these rumors appear to be unsubstantiated, seeing as Harbaugh will now be meeting with the Chargers once again, per a report from NFL insider Adam Schefter.
Harbaugh is also seemingly interested in the Atlanta Falcons job, and the interest appears to be mutual seeing as the Falcons have now interviewed Harbaugh twice.
With Justin Herbert at quarterback and one of the top rosters in the NFL, there is no doubt that the LA Chargers job is interesting for Jim Harbaugh and other top coaching candidates; however, Michigan football is reportedly making a push for a new contract as well, and it remains to be seen where Harbaugh will wind up.
Keep an eye on the LA Chargers — who are in a position to make an immediate hire after fulfilling the Rooney Rule last week — as the NFL looks to poach Jim Harbaugh from the Michigan football program heading into the 2024 season.
