ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Earlier today, the media caught up with a few Wolverine standouts just days into fall camp. According to 6th-year defender Mike Barrett, Michigan football transfer linebacker Ernest Hausmann, a key addition for the Maize and Blue, is pushing the entire LB corps to improve through daily competition and more.

Last year, as a true freshman, Ernest Hausmann stood out as a starting linebacker for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. This fall, Hausmann will be playing in Lincoln, NE, but only for one game — Michigan’s Week 5 road trip against the Huskers. Currently, during fall camp, this new Michigan football transfer linebacker is standing out as he competes for a starting role. In fact, veteran Wolverine Mike Barrett suggests that Hausmann is driving the entire LB corps to excel this fall.

“Quick learner,” Mike Barrett said of Michigan football transfer linebacker Ernest Hausmann earlier today. “Came in ready to learn, ready to work. We push each other every day. Just our room in general, I feel like we’re all pushing each other, helping each other get better. It’s never any tension in the room, it’s always wanting to help the other one be better to help ourselves be better.

“He just came in with that will to learn, that grind that we’ve been looking for. He’s definitely gonna help us a lot this year.”

Currently, star linebackers such as Mike Barrett (6th-year), Junior Colson (junior), Ernest Hausmann (sophomore), and others form one of the most competitive linebacker groups in the nation. As the pivotal 2023 college football season rapidly approaches, the Michigan football LB corps must be operating at its highest level, leading the Wolverines’ top-tier defense in pursuit of another Big Ten title and further success in the upcoming months.
