ANN ARBOR, MI — Only a few months ago, the talk of the town in Ann Arbor was how can the Wolverines get over their postseason woes, whether or not Jim Harbaugh was staying and more. Now, Michigan LB Mike Barrett spoke on a much brighter topic: the future of UM football under some new coaches and star players.
Michigan LB Mike Barrett talks Partridge and more
Here is what Michigan LB Mike Barrett had to say about the Wolverines’ newest defensive assistant coach — Chris Partridge — during his recent media availability. For those unaware, Chris Partridge served as a major recruiter on Jim Harbaugh’s Michigan staff from 2015-2019 before taking the same role with Ole Miss. Last month, Mike Barrett’s primary recruiter (Partridge) was re-hired by Harbaugh after serving three year’s on Lane Kiffin’s staff at Ole Miss.
“Oh, I was excited. He was the guy, he recruited me here. He got me here,” Barrett told Wolverines Wire. “(On) special teams, (he) got me on the field for special teams. When I first got here. He was a great coach when he was here. I got really close to him with his time here. I was excited when I heard he was coming back … [Partridge] has a different outlook, just enthusiasm,” Barrett stated. “And he just has a way to get everybody fired up and everybody ready to go.”
Michigan LB Mike Barrett will be an essential part of the Michigan Wolverines’ defensive unit later this year. Michigan fans were thrilled to hear that Barrett would be returning for this year after the Wolverines’ 13-1 Big Ten title season in 2022 — if Michigan expects to have an elite defensive unit for the third year in a row, Barrett will need to stay active and healthy throughout during the 2023 season.
