It has been a hell of a week for the Wolverines, who have a bye this weekend, yet are caught between a pending NCAA investigation and the news media due to illegal sign-stealing allegations. Still, a Michigan football cheap shot from last weekend’s game against Michigan State was just reviewed — the result? MSU offensive lineman Spencer Brown will be suspended for his late hit to the back of the head on Michigan defensive end Braiden McGregor.
MSU player suspended for Michigan football cheap shot
Braiden McGregor, a star edge rusher for Michigan football, says that he didn’t think much of the cheap shot that he took from Michigan State senior lineman Spencer Brown last weekend. His Wolverines went on to crush MSU 49-0 in their own stadium, and are currently ranked No. 2 in the nation with a shot at the Big Ten title and national title still hanging in the balance.
“Honestly, I didn’t even really know what happened,” McGregor told us on Monday. “I just went to make a block, ended up on the ground, and then I just thought someone fell on me. So I didn’t really think anything of it. The refs took care of it really quick. You know, it’s a rivalry game, so you can expect (some) dirty plays.”
After Michigan picked off an MSU pass, McGregor was thrown to the ground by Brown, who then used his helmet as a weapon to the back of McGregor’s head — this action got Brown suspended for the remainder of the Michigan-Michigan State football game. Today, it was reported that Brown will also miss the first half of this weekend’s game, which pits the 2-5 Spartans against the Minnesota Golden Gophers.
