With a notable Michigan football investigation being launched (by the NCAA) regarding allegations of sign stealing, the Wolverines are once again being cast in a negative light when it comes to national perceptions. With the Michigan-Michigan State game just a few days out, it was reported that the Spartans were not fully sold on playing this weekend’s game; however, while interim MSU president Teresa Woodruff appears concerned, the game will be played.
MSU president calls Michigan football investigation ‘concerning’
Right now, Jim Harbaugh and Michigan football are facing some pretty serious allegations. While Michigan State University was apparently considering not playing against the Wolverines this weekend due to the coming investigation, the game will still be played on Saturday night.
That said, Teresa Woodruff — Michigan State’s interim president — released a statement today and is clearly concerned. Here is what Woodruff said, per Tony Paul of the Detroit News.
“As we look forward to the football game this Saturday, we are chagrined by the news of the NCAA investigation, and we echo the Big Ten Conference’s commitment to integrity,” interim MSU president Teresa Woodruff said. “The allegations are concerning but will be handled through the NCAA’s processes. MSU has no further comment on that matter. The university is focused on supporting our own team and preparing campus for a safe game-day environment.”
Michigan football and Michigan State will face off at 7:30 PM (EST) at Spartan Stadium in East Lansing this Saturday evening.
