ANN ARBOR — The 2023-24 season was a magical one for anyone donning the Maize and Blue, seeing as Jim Harbaugh and his Wolverines just captured the program’s first National Championship in nearly three decades and more. After beating Penn State and Ohio State, winning the Big Ten (again), making the CFP (again), winning the Rose Bowl, and claiming a national title, a new Michigan football transfer portal loss has emerged in wide receiver Jake Thaw.

Jake Thaw becomes latest Michigan football transfer loss

Jake Thaw was a solid returner for Michigan football throughout the 2023-24 season, and while many recall a more recent mistake — his muffed punt against Alabama in the Rose Bowl — most will remember Thaw as a solid return man on one of the greatest Michigan teams of all time.

Today, just days after the National Championship Game in Houston, TX, the Michigan football transfer announced his intention to hit the transfer portal and find a new home. Of course, while Thaw saw some solid special teams reps with the Maize and Blue over the past few years, he was never a threat to Sherrone Moore’s offense.

During his tenure with the University of Michigan football program, Jake Thaw returned 16 punts and one kickoff for 117 total yards throughout the 2022 and 2023 seasons. Now, the senior wideout is looking for what we assume is a larger role on offense — best of luck, Jake Thaw!
