After a thrilling and spectacular 2022 season, Jim Harbaugh hit the transfer portal hard to ensure the Wolverines’ roster would remain among the best in the nation. One of the most notable signees from the 2023 Michigan football transfer portal class is LaDarius Henderson, a former standout offensive lineman from Arizona State who appears poised to earn a starting role on Michigan’s top-ranked offensive line this fall. Ahead of the 2023 college football season, this new addition is being touted as a notable prospect for the 2024 NFL Draft, something that the Maize and Blue are well acquainted with when it comes to their current roster.

New Michigan football transfer portal pick-up ranked among top 10 transfer draft prospects

We are less than 60 days away from the 2023 Michigan football season — a season in which the Wolverines are expected to contend for yet another Big Ten title and a College Football Playoff berth.

One key piece of the puzzle for this year’s Maize and Blue offense is a new transfer portal acquisition, LaDarius Henderson, who is receiving national praise ahead of his first year on the sidelines in Ann Arbor.

In addition to making the All-Transfer Portal team this off-season, LaDarius Henderson is being touted as a top prospect for the 2024 NFL Draft — this recognition could further solidify the Wolverines as a priority destination for some of the nation’s top recruits. Michigan football currently leads the Big Ten in drafted players over the past three years, serving as a strong selling point for Jim Harbaugh and his staff.

According to the ON3 Sports Network, this new Michigan football transfer portal addition ranks among the top 10 transfers who will be prospects for the 2024 NFL Draft. He occupies the 10th spot on their newly released list, indicating that he may contribute to the long-standing tradition of offensive line excellence in Ann Arbor.

The offensive line and JJ McCarthy will benefit from LaDarius Henderson’s presence this year

One major factor in Michigan’s newfound national success has been its stellar offensive line. Over the past two seasons, the Wolverines have won two consecutive Joe Moore Awards, making them the first program to achieve this feat. Michigan appears poised to win the award once again in 2023.

A crucial element of the Wolverines’ impressive offensive front will be the presence of Henderson. In fact, he is expected to compete for the left tackle position this fall, which is arguably the most critical spot on the offensive line. As the left tackle, he will have the responsibility of protecting rising junior quarterback JJ McCarthy’s blindside.

One thing is certain — LaDarius Henderson was an exceptional addition for Jim Harbaugh and the Maize and Blue as they head into the 2023 season. He is likely to play a key role in guiding the Wolverines to another conference title and possibly even their first national championship since the Lloyd Carr era.
