Belleville quarterback Bryce Underwood makes a pass against Saline during the first half of district final at Belleville High School in Belleville on Friday, Nov. 8, 2024.

Michigan football landed its highest rated recruit in the illustrious program’s history on Thursday. Wolverine alumnus Adam Schefter announced live on ESPN’s Sportscenter that No. 1 recruit 2025 QB Bryce Underwood flipped from LSU to Michigan.

Bryce Underwood Flips to Michigan

Underwood (Belleville, MI) had been committed to LSU since January, and he took his official visit over the weekend of the Alabama game earlier this month. Michigan got in the running for Underwood rather late, but over the past few months it ramped up efforts heavily.

Michigan seemingly did everything it could to keep Underwood in the Mitten. Not only were the Wolverines willing to lose their only quarterback commit in the 2025 class, but they took major steps to ensure they competed with LSU with NIL.

On Wednesday, Michigan flipped four-star DB Elijah Dotson from Pitt. Dotson will likely stay on the defensive side of the ball in college, but he was also Underwood’s No. 1 receiver over the past few years at Belleville. Having a familiar face around campus could’ve been an important factor in Underwood’s decision.

Maize and blue fans had one major question as this season progressed; Who is the quarterback of the future? Underwood seemed like a dream at times, but he decided to stay home and woke everyone up.
