Later today, a significant priority recruit for Michigan football will announce his commitment. Blue-chip recruit Gatlin Bair initially gained momentum toward Michigan, but according to recent reports, it appears more likely that the receiver will now commit to Boise State. This potential miss could prove to be a big loss for Michigan football recruiting in the 2024 cycle.
Priority Michigan football recruit Gatlin Bair to announce commitment at 7 PM ET
Gatlin Bair is currently ranked as the 11th wide receiver in the 2024 recruiting class and the 39th overall recruit according to On3 Industry Rankings. He possesses incredible speed and is expected to make a major impact wherever he commits.
After Bair took his official visit to Ann Arbor in June, the Wolverines appeared to be the front runners for his commitment; however, the Idaho native now appears to be staying in-state as Boise State now holds the lead, according to the recruiting prediction.
The commitment will be announced tonight 8/5 at 7 p.m. Eastern Time.
Wolverine recruiting holding strong for the near future
Jim Harbaugh has done an excellent job producing the No. 4 composite recruiting class for 2024. If Michigan falls short of landing Bair, the future of the Michigan offense should still be in good hands. Although Bair is designated as a 2024 recruit, he is a member of the LDS church — because of this, Bair will embark on a two-year Mission before seeing the field in college, meaning he will not be on campus until 2026.
While the commitment may not immediately impact Michigan’s receiving corps, the Wolverines would love to land the speedy receiver for its offense in the years to come.
