Perhaps the top remaining Michigan football recruiting target still on the board (in the 2024 recruiting class) is four-star wide receiver Gatlin Bair, who will be announcing his college decision on Saturday. According to reports, this is currently a three-way race between Michigan, Boise State, and Oregon. However, today, there was a major shift in Bair’s recruitment, with the Maize and Blue now sitting behind the Broncos less than two days away from his commitment announcement.

Michigan football recruiting falls behind Boise State at the last second for Gatlin Bair

Gatlin Bair is a major four-star wide receiver in the 2024 recruiting class, reportedly the fastest prospect in America, and has been a major priority for Jim Harbaugh and his staff for quite some time. After his June official visit, it appeared as if Gatlin Bair was going to be a Wolverine, but today, things seemed to change a bit.

According to the Recruiting Prediction Machine, which has heavily favored Michigan football recruiting in this race for weeks now, the Boise State Broncos are now the team to beat, leaving the Wolverines playing catch-up with around 48 hours until Gatlin Bair makes his commitment announcement. Right now, Boise State (his home state school) leads with a 48.6 percent chance of landing Bair — the Wolverines are about 11% back, now sitting in second place.

According to the On3 industry recruiting rankings, Gatlin Bair is a top 40 prospect nationally. He ranks as the No. 39 player in the nation, the No. 11 wide receiver in the 2024 recruiting class, and is the No. 1 recruit in his home state of Idaho. This weekend (on Saturday at 7PM eastern), Bair’s recruitment will close, meaning the Wolverines have little time to change much if these inside reports are true.
