Today, one of the most sought-after Michigan football recruiting targets in the 2024 recruiting class has set his commitment date, and the Wolverines are among his finalists. Four-star safety Zaquan Patterson, a top-ranked prospect from Florida, will be making his commitment on Saturday, August 26th (next weekend).

Michigan football recruiting a finalist for elite target in 2024 recruiting class

The Michigan football recruiting efforts for the 2024 recruiting class are starting to slow down; most of the top targets are already off the board. However, four-star safety Zaquan Patterson remains in play for the time being. He will also be off the market next weekend, as his commitment date is set for next Saturday — the final weekend before Michigan football resumes, I might add.

According to a recent announcement, Patterson will be choosing from five college football programs: Michigan, Miami (FL), Florida State, Auburn, and Ohio State. Among these teams, the Miami Hurricanes are leading by a significant margin (according to the Recruiting Prediction Machine). Nonetheless, Michigan football recruiting is still in the running, currently ranking at No. 2 in the RPM.

Zaquan Patterson to Ann Arbor?

Patterson’s most recent college visit was to Ann Arbor on July 30th for the annual Michigan football ‘BBQ at the Big House’ event, which could be a positive sign for the Maize and Blue. Jim Harbaugh has been targeting Patterson for quite some time, though beating a pair of in-state programs for a blue-chip Florida recruit is much easier said than done.

According to the On3 Industry Recruiting rankings, Zaquan Patterson is a four-star safety in the 2024 recruiting class. He is ranked as the No. 80 prospect in the nation, the No. 3 safety in his class, and the No. 11 recruit in the state of Florida.
