This weekend was quite eventful for some of the nation’s top programs, including the undefeated Wolverines (10-0, 7-0 Big Ten), who beat down Penn State on Saturday afternoon. While Michigan was busy downing a top 10 team in Happy Valley, SEC coach Eli Drinkwitz of the Missouri Tigers was claiming a massive win of his own, crushing Joe Milton and No. 14 Tennessee 36-7. After the game, Drinkwitz slipped a joke about Connor Stalions and the Michigan football sign-stealing scandal into his post-game press conference.
SEC coach jokes about Michigan football sign-stealing and Connor Stalions in post-game presser
Tennessee was no match for the Missouri Tigers yesterday, losing by 29 points and dropping to 7-3 on the season thus far. Conversely, Missouri is now 8-2 and trending towards top-15 status on this week’s updated College Football Playoff rankings, which will be released on Tuesday evening.
“We had some of (Tennessee’s) keys. Jake Olsen, one of our analysts, had identified a couple of tendencies that they had — not signals, not Connor Stalions,” SEC coach Eli Drinkwitz said jokingly after his team’s impressive win. “But, we had identified a couple of things that we felt like were going to be crucial for us.”
It was a good joke — a great joke, even. Still, despite being without Connor Stalions and Jim Harbaugh against Penn State yesterday, Michigan football beat Penn State 24-15 in its own stadium en route to a perfect 10-0 start. Next weekend, Harbaugh or not, the Wolverines could claim win number 1,000 against the Maryland Terrapins before hosting No. 1 Ohio State at the Big House.
