Yesterday, the Big Ten conference approved two new members, the Oregon Ducks and the Washington Huskies, who will be added in 2024 alongside the USC Trojans and UCLA Bruins. As things stand, the 2024 Michigan football schedule is already tough, and with new PAC-12 teams joining the conference (and possibly more teams from other conferences on the way), it seems that the Wolverines’ 2024 slate could be getting even harder.
2024 Michigan football schedule could get much harder with new Big Ten conference additions
Earlier this summer, the 2024 Michigan football schedule (well, the opponents) was released. This challenging lineup includes teams like the Texas Longhorns, Michigan State Spartans, Ohio State Buckeyes, Wisconsin Badgers, UCLA Bruins, USC Trojans, and more. With two more former PAC-12 teams joining the Big Ten conference soon, it appears that the Wolverines could face even more challenges next fall.
Due to the addition of more teams to the Big Ten conference in 2024, there is no doubt that the 2024 Michigan football schedule will undergo a complete overhaul. At this point, only five opponents seem certain — Texas, Fresno State, Arkansas State, Michigan State, and Ohio State. Apart from protected rivals and non-conference games, the possibilities are wide open.
As per the current schedule, Michigan football will host UCLA in Ann Arbor and travel to California to play USC — both intriguing matchups for Wolverines fans and the national media. Although subject to change, having at least one former PAC-12 team visit the Big House and a road trip to the West Coast would be exciting as Michigan football enters a new era of Big Ten conference play.
While we might have to wait a little while for the new schedule since the 2023 season is less than a month away, keep an eye out for the future release of the 2024 Michigan football schedule — things could get interesting.
