There was a video posted on Sunday that features every single snap between Michigan football cornerback Will Johnson and former Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. going head-to-head.

Johnson was a true freshman in 2022. But after Harrison caught a touchdown pass in the 2022 game, Johnson started covering him one-on-one. The Michigan football standout won that battle, just like the Wolverines won the game 45-23.

Harrison was a non-factor after Johnson started covering him one-on-one. He made a few short catches in Columbus, with maybe one going for a first down. He did catch a pass that went for around 40 yards in the 2023 edition of the game, plus two other receptions against Johnson last November that went for first downs.

Who won the Will Johnson-Marvin Harrison Jr. matchup?

Yet, Johnson also made the biggest play of the two-year matchup between the two elite talents. Kyle McCord threw a timing route to Harrison in the first quarter of ‘The Game’ but Johnson jumped it and beat Harrison for the ball. Simply put, he wanted it more.

Harrison was probably afraid of getting hit. Johnson didn’t hesitate and it was a good thing because that was the key play in the game. It led to the first Michigan football touchdown and was the only takeaway that led to points.

Harrison did make a touchdown catch with his team down 10 in the fourth quarter, while Johnson was out of the game with an injury. Otherwise, Marvin wouldn’t have found the end zone in 2023, just like he didn’t when Will covered him in 2022 and completely took him out of the game.

Ohio State fans will argue that Harrison won the matchup, even though he created one big play against Johnson. That’s it. Johnson made a more impactful play on the interception and won the crucial matchup two years running, which is just another reason the Wolverines have won three in a row over the Buckeyes.
