Earlier this week, it was reported that there are rival schools — perhaps Ohio State, Michigan State, Penn State, and more — that are looking to entice current Wolverine star players into the transfer portal. In response, a main Michigan football NIL collective, the Champions Circle Collective, launched the “The Who Stay” fund, which aims to support current Michigan players. With the project taking off just a few days in, a new major development broke on Sunday, the day before the National Championship Game, as an anonymous donor will be matching all donations to the fund through midnight tonight.

New major development for Michigan football NIL project

If Michigan football wants to keep its roster intact for the 2024 season, NIL will undoubtedly play a notable role — that’s the way of the world when it comes to college football in 2024. While the Wolverines will be playing in the National Championship against Washington tomorrow, perhaps ending the program’s title drought dating back to 1997, Champions Circle has been putting in tons of work in anticipation for next year.

So far, the “Those Who Stay” fund has raised nearly $400,000 for the Wolverines’ roster, and earlier today, a new anonymous donor vowed to match all donations up to $100,000 between now and midnight, meaning every dollar given today, the day before Michigan’s national title bout, will be worth two dollars to the fund.
