Michigan football fans will probably like what this top analyst has to say about the Wolverines amid scandal.

Earlier this week, it was reported that, if anything were to happen to the Wolverines this fall — due to the infamous Michigan football scandal and investigation into sign-stealing issues — it would not be coming from the NCAA. That said, the Big Ten Conference and College Football Playoff committee could both step in before the NCAA does; however, one top college football analyst sees that as very unlikely.

Will the Big Ten step in and shut Michigan football down? Despite what rival fans are calling for on social media, it seems unlikely.

“I would be surprised if it was Big Ten (that shuts down Michigan’s season),” ESPN’s Bruce Feldman said, appearing on the Rich Eisen Show. “Because from what I’d heard, I don’t know how much the Big Ten has; whereas the NCAA may be out in front of this a little more. I just would be surprised if the Big Ten was going to shut down a flagship program like that.

“It benefits them (the Big Ten Conference) — it benefits their brand. It just adds so much,” he said. “I get it. They’re gonna get a lot of pushback from some of the schools in their conference.”

With Michigan football ranked No. 2 nationally with an 8-0 record and a legit shot at winning it all this year, it is highly unlikely that the Big Ten comes in and kneecaps its own College Football Playoff contender before the season ends.

After the season, however, when the NCAA and Big Ten are both done with their investigations, who knows what may happen to the Maize and Blue when it comes to the sign-stealing scandal.
