While there has been a large number of Michigan Wolverines that are entering the 2024 NFL Draft — such as JJ McCarthy, Blake Corum, and more — Michigan football has still managed to retain a few key pieces, especially on the defensive side of the football. After Rod Moore made his plans to return official, another standout Wolverine defensive back did the same: Makari Paige will be coming back for the 2024 season.

Rod Moore and Makari Paige were the best safety duo in the nation this fall and were a part of one of the most dominant defenses that college football has ever seen — a defense that led the Wolverines to a 15-0 record with a Big Ten title, a Rose Bowl win, and National Championship all said and done.

On Monday, soon after Rod Moore made his plans to return to Michigan football official, Makari Paige did the same, announcing a simple message on social media: “I’m Back.”

Paige, a senior out of West Bloomfield, is a three-year letterman, a two-time All-Big Ten honorable mention selection, and a 2021 Academic All-Big Ten standout. During the Wolverines’ impressive 2023-24 campaign, Paige appeared in 14 of 15 games making 41 tackles, defending two passes, and recovering a fumble.

While there are still a few more names that Michigan football is yet to hear from in regard to their NFL decisions, including head coach Jim Harbaugh, who just interviewed with the LA Chargers, next year’s team is already coming together nicely so far.
