The end of July is set to be a crucial time for the Michigan football recruiting efforts in the 2024 and 2025 cycles. The Wolverines are preparing to host several top targets from both classes, and an important commitment date is quickly approaching. However, it seems that the No. 1 recruit in Ohio will likely choose another college due to recent trends.

Michigan football recruiting may suffer another major loss this summer

While Michigan still has a chance with Aaron Scott, the No. 1 recruit in Ohio, it appears probable that the Wolverines will face another recruiting setback with him this summer. All indications point to Ohio State as Scott’s likely destination, especially since he has scheduled his commitment date for July 30th, coinciding with his father’s birthday, who is a devoted Buckeye fan. This recent change in date strongly suggests that Ohio State is his top choice currently.

Despite some positive developments, the On3 Recruiting Prediction machine heavily favors Ohio State. Ryan Day and his Buckeyes boast an overwhelming 95.9% chance of landing the No. 1 recruit in Ohio, while Michigan football only stands at 1.2%.

Adding to the signs pointing to Ohio State, Aaron Scott currently has three crystal ball predictions, all favoring the Buckeyes.

Although Michigan football still holds a slim chance in this recruitment battle, the prevailing indicators point towards the Buckeyes, indicating that Jim Harbaugh and the Wolverines are likely to face another major recruiting miss this summer. Nevertheless, it’s worth noting that Michigan’s overall recruiting class is currently ranked in the top-5, demonstrating that the Maize and Blue are in excellent shape for the 2024 cycle.

Aaron Scott rankings

According to the On3 rankings, Aaron Scott is a four-star cornerback from Springfield, OH. He holds the No. 29 spot among players in the 2024 recruiting class, is ranked as the No. 4 cornerback nationwide, and is regarded as the No. 1 recruit in Ohio.
