Last weekend, Blake Corum and JJ McCarthy led Michigan football to a 31-6 victory over the Bowling Green State University Falcons — the Wolverines’ third-straight victory of the 2023 season. While it was an ugly win, to say the least, Jim Harbaugh is back this weekend, and the Maize and Blue are still the 2nd-ranked team in the nation for the time being. With Big Ten play fast approaching (this weekend), Las Vegas still sees the Wolverines as major contenders in the latest 2023-24 national championship odds.

Michigan football sees an ugly win over Bowling Green, yet remains at No. 2

It has been nearly three decades since Michigan football last claimed a national championship (1997), yet this year’s Wolverines appear to be in the conversation for the time being. So far, Michigan’s offense is yet to impress; however, the Maize and Blue have a lot going for them in regard to talent and the coaching staff.

Last weekend’s 25-point victory over Bowling Green looks fine at a glance; however, the team’s numerous struggles (such as three interceptions and other mistakes) have many Michigan football fans worrying about where this year’s team may land all said and done.

Wolverines still 2nd in national championship odds

Despite these setbacks, Michigan football is still ranked No. 2 nationally in this week’s AP/coaches polls and comes in 2nd in the updated national championship odds. For the time being, the Wolverines are +400, which is second to the Georgia Bulldogs (+200) per Vegas Insider.

This weekend, Michigan football is set to square off in their first Big Ten conference game of the 2023 season. The Wolverines will welcome the Rutgers Scarlet Knights (3-0) on Saturday before hitting the road and heading to Nebraska the following weekend.

In Week 4, keep a close eye on Jim Harbaugh, Blake Corum, JJ McCarthy, and others as the Maize and Blue look to right the ship and make a title run throughout the remainder of the season.
