Yesterday, Michigan football made a lot of big mistakes — including fumbles and interceptions — during the first half of their Week 3 matchup against Bowling Green, who fell to 1-2 after the loss. At halftime, it was clear that something changed for the Maize and Blue; after taking a 14-6 lead into halftime, Sherrone Moore rallied his players and finished with a 31-6 win all said and done. Here is how the Wolverines’ interim head coach changed the tone at halftime.
What changed Michigan football at halftime?
Rallying a struggling team at halftime can be a tall task; however, it sounds like Michigan football interim head coach Sherrone Moore had no trouble doing so at halftime against Bowling Green yesterday.
“His (Sherrone Moore) main message was just ‘throw it in the ocean and keep being me.’ That meant a lot to me to know that he still had the trust in me to keep throwing the ball and all that,” JJ McCarthy said. “Just keep doing me, and that helped me out a lot.”
Sherrone Moore and the Wolverines get away with a blowout win
Following this halftime message, the offense and defense looked to get in sync and started making plays. While it was an ugly win for Michigan football — to say the least — Sherrone Moore and the Wolverines still walked out of Week 3 with a 25-point win.
Next weekend, the Maize and Blue will return to Ann Arbor for the fourth game in a row; this time, they will face Rutgers in the 2023 season opener.
