Last weekend, against one of the top environments in the Big Ten Conference, the Wolverines marched into Minneapolis and downed the Golden Gophers 52-10. Heading into Week 7, which pits the Maize and Blue against Indiana, is it time to bet on a Michigan football national title run?

Is it time to bet on a Michigan football national title run?

Michigan football is elite right now — offense, defense, and special teams, the Wolverines are one of the most complete teams in the country. In fact, Minnesota coach PJ Fleck says that Jim Harbaugh’s Wolverines are one of the best teams that he has faced in his 11 years as a head coach, while another Big Ten coach called Michigan football an “NFL team.”

There is a lot riding on the 2023 season for Michigan football, and right now, it appears that the Wolverines are primed to finally get over the hump and make a push for the College Football Playoff. That said, what are the Wolverines’ betting odds to win the national championship this fall?

According to FanDuel Sportsbook, Michigan football has the second-best odds to win the national title this season — the Wolverines have +350 odds, sitting just behind Georgia, who is at +250 right now. Additionally, Michigan is the top team in the Big Ten (Ohio State sits at 4th nationally) and notably further ahead than 3rd place Florida State, which has +800 odds. It’s also worth noting that Penn State has moved into the top 5 in this season’s national title odds, coming in at No. 5 heading into Week 7.

There is a good chance that Michigan football heads to Happy Valley with a 9-0 record later this year. From there, we will see how good this year’s team actually is, but for the time being, if you’re one of the many people who are looking to bet on Michigan winning it all, it appears that Michigan’s odds will only continue to get better from here.
