On Saturday, during the Wolverines’ 35-7 win over UNLV at the Big House in Ann Arbor, there was a scary Michigan football quarterback injury. Jack Tuttle — a new transfer QB — was hit late out of bounds, causing the first-year Wolverine to run into a number of things on the sideline, an injury, and a great deal of concern among the fans. Today, head coach Jim Harbaugh gave us an update on how Tuttle is doing heading into Week 3 — according to Harbaugh, it sounds like the Wolverines are in the clear when it comes to Tuttle’s injury.

Jim Harbaugh gives Michigan football quarterback injury update

Jack Tuttle is one of the newest Wolverines — he transferred from the Indiana Hoosiers over the offseason in hopes of earning the vacant QB2 role behind JJ McCarthy. This role is still yet to be filled, but for the time being, it sounds like Tuttle is out of the running due to a Week 2 injury. Here is what Jim Harbaugh said today when asked about this unfortunate Michigan football quarterback injury — the good news is that it doesn’t sound too serious right now.

“He tells me he’s gonna be back this week practicing, so I think we’re gonna dodge a bullet there,” Jim Harbaugh said when asked about Michigan football quarterback Jack Tuttle and his injury status heading into Week 3. “And we will see — I don’t anticipate him playing (against Bowling Green). We really need to see Jayden Denegal and Alex Orji in this week. But Jack (Tuttle) has acquitted himself well, he’s practiced well, and he had a nice play in the game. That’s unfortunate that (Tuttle) got hurt. He’s a tough guy. He’ll be back. We know that, and we really got to find out what we have in Jayden (Denegal) and Alex (Orji).”

Jack Tuttle will have to wait his turn to play once again

With the backup QB role still up for grabs in Ann Arbor, it sounds like Jack Tuttle is still in consideration but is facing a major setback with his injury. After just one in-game snap with the Wolverines, Tuttle is going to have to wait for his turn in the QB rotation once again due to his injury. While it currently seems to be nothing serious, the Wolverines are going to play it safe and see what they have got in two rising star sophomores.
