This weekend will be a big one for Michigan football recruiting as they will be hosting a number of their top targets for the ‘BBQ at the Big House’ event ahead of the start of fall camp. Things are looking promising for the Wolverines on the recruiting trail, with both the 2024 class (ranked 4th) and the 2025 class (ranked 7th) among the nation’s top classes. Additionally, there is exciting news for Michigan’s top target, Bryce Underwood, who has recently been ranked as the No. 1 recruit in the nation according to the 247 Sports composite rankings and the On3 industry rankings.
Michigan football recruiting target Byrce Underwood becomes No. 1 recruit in the nation, per 247 Sports Composite and more
Bryce Underwood is a name that all Michigan football fans are familiar with by now. He is an elite target for the Maize and Blue, and as a Belleville High School QB, he is located just around 20 minutes from Ann Arbor, MI. With a commitment date approaching fast on January 6th, 2024, Bryce Underwood is one of the most coveted recruits in the nation, regardless of class, and has garnered the attention of national media.
Currently, Michigan football recruiting seems to have the lead in the race for Underwood, although a lot can change between now and January. Nevertheless, the recent news of him being ranked as the No. 1 recruit in the nation according to the 247 Sports composite rankings is a significant development. Underwood had long been On3’s top prospect in the 2025 class, but this promotion to the top spot by both 247 Sports (composite) and On3 (industry) is a massive step for the Michigan native.
Keeping Bryce Underwood at home is the top priority for Michigan football recruiting right now. If the Wolverines can secure his commitment, he could become the cornerstone of Michigan’s 2025 recruiting class, potentially setting up an even better cycle than 2024 for Jim Harbaugh and his program.
