The Wolverines have few needs ahead of summer ball, though adding cornerback depth is definitely on the list of needs right now. This morning, four-star Penn State transfer Storm Duck — who joined the Nittany Lions in January after transferring from North Carolina — went back on the market. With a talented former Nittany Lion cornerback in the transfer portal, he could turn some heads among the Michigan football coaching staff in Ann Arbor.

Michigan football: four-star Penn State transfer Storm Duck re-enters transfer portal

On Friday morning, four-star transfer cornerback Storm Duck reportedly re-entered the transfer portal. Back in January, the former North Carolina All-ACC honorable mention defensive back transferred from UNC to Penn State football, though it appears as if he did not beat Kalen King or Johnny Dixon for the CB1 or CB2 roles in State College. Duck may not have much Big Ten experience, though the former Penn State transfer could be a new target for the Michigan Wolverines.

Michigan football needs help at cornerback

If one thing became clear during the spring game earlier this month, it is that Michigan football needs some help at cornerback. First off, rising sophomore Will Johnson is battling an injury right now, and while he is expected to be back to 100% by the end of summer, the staff likely doesn’t want to take any chances. Additionally, behind Johnson, there isn’t much depth. Amorion Walker is a work in progress, though if the spring game was any indication, he is still too raw to be rolled out as a Week 1 starter opposite of Will Johnson.

With Storm Duck back in the portal, there could be some heads turning in Ann Arbor right now as the former Penn State transfer cornerback has the frame and skillset that Michigan is looking for right now.
