Since the 2022 season came to a close, it has been confirmed that last year’s Michigan football defensive line had some issues with communication and coordination throughout the year. With the 2023 season just three weeks from kicking off (September 2nd against ECU), Bridan McGregor was asked to address this yesterday, and it sounds like great progress has been made. Despite many new faces appearing along the D-line for the Wolverines this year, Michigan has made “huge strides” along the defensive line during the Wolverines’ fall camp.

Throughout fall camp, it sounds like Braiden McGregor and the Michigan football defensive line is improving across the board. There is a lot of new talent in the room this fall, but according to all reports, that has not stopped tons of improvement for the Wolverines heading into the new season.

“I think we’ve made huge strides in that aspect of just meeting together more to understand each other,” Braiden McGregor said at Schembechler Hall on Friday. “What one tackle likes, the other one might not like. So just working with games with them and being able to know like, ‘okay, I got Kris (Jenkins), this is what he liked, Mason (Graham), this what he likes’ — and just being able to be on the same page has definitely helped us a lot in our pass rush this year.”

With improved coordination, more depth, and a number of breakout players scoring the entire Michigan football defensive line, it’s safe to say that this year’s defense is in great shape right now.
