ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Tomorrow, the undefeated Wolverines and undefeated Buckeyes, both 11-0 and ranked among the nation’s top 3, will settle everything on the gridiron. One team will win the Big Ten East, likely securing a spot in the College Football Playoff, while the other will not. With stars like JJ McCarthy, Roman Wilson, and others looking a bit banged up last weekend, here is the latest Michigan football injury news ahead of the Ohio State game.

Michigan football injury news: Will anyone miss the Ohio State game?

We are just 24 hours out from the biggest Michigan football game of the year — perhaps even the biggest Michigan-Ohio State game of my lifetime. With Jim Harbaugh suspended by the Big Ten, acting head coach Sherrone Moore will be leading the way tomorrow, though once the Wolverines hit the field, it’s all on the players to go out there and get the job done.

Last weekend, against Maryland, it was apparent that Michigan football is not at 100% right now, injury-wise. Here is all the latest that we’ve gathered throughout the week.

Is JJ McCarthy healthy?

First off, we have covered JJ McCarthy extensively this week, and rightfully so. McCarthy has not looked himself over the past few weeks, and with Michigan football shifting into a run-heavy scheme under Sherrone Moore’s watch lately, it has been rumored that he is not at 100% heading into the Ohio State game.

While JJ McCarthy admitted on Monday that last weekend he felt a bit banged up, he says that he is feeling great right now. Sherrone Moore and Trevor Keegan also stated that McCarthy is doing well, with Keegan even confirming that he is moving around well in practice this week. For the time being, no need for concern on that front.

Where do things stand with Roman Wilson?

Michigan football star wideout Roman Wilson took an ugly shot to the head last weekend and was immediately put on concussion protocol. While Wilson looked to be in good spirits on the sidelines against Maryland, he did not return to action, though it sounds like he will play against Ohio State this weekend.

Per Sherrone Moore, while Michigan will continue to consult with team doctors on Roman Wilson and his status, he anticipates the Wolverines’ star pass-catcher to be back and ready to go this weekend.

The offensive line

Last weekend, the only Michigan football injury (among starting players) was LaDarius Henderson, who is expected back this weekend, according to Sherrone Moore. Additionally, we got confirmation this week that Henderson returned to practice, which is a good sign.

While Myles Hinton is also working through something (knee), it appears that the entire offensive line room will be healthy enough to play against Ohio State on Saturday.

Michael Barrett

Another Michigan football injury that Wolverines fans were keeping a close eye on was to star linebacker and team captain Micahel Barrett, who headed to the locker room in the first half against Maryland. After ultimately returning to the game in a limited capacity (against Maryland), Barrett says he is feeling fine and will be ready against Ohio State.

He added that nothing will keep him from being ready to go against the Buckeyes — so he is definitely ready to hit the field one last time at the Big House on Saturday.

Will any Michigan football players miss the Ohio State game?

The only Wolverines that we believe will be “out” on tomorrow’s Michigan football injury report is graduate running back Danny Hughes. Otherwise, with No. 2 Ohio State coming to town for a monumental matchup with incredible implications for both teams on Saturday, it sounds like everyone else in Ann Arbor will be healthy enough to play in hopes of downing the Buckeyes for the third season in a row.
