Today, when the 2nd-ranked Wolverines took the field against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, the Maize and Blue were down a major asset. Mason Graham, a star defensive tackle in Ann Arbor, was a notable loss today, though according to head coach Jim Harbaugh — who gave a Michigan football injury update after the win — Graham should not be out too long.

There is a solid chance that Mason Graham will miss next weekend’s game against Nebraska, Michigan’s first road game of the year, due to injury. That said, Jim Harbaugh expects Michigan football to get its star defensive tackle back pretty soon here.

“Maybe you thought me, Will (Johnson), and Rod Moore, were on a milk carton somewhere, you couldn’t find us, but we’ve been found,” Jim Harbaugh said after Michigan football beat Rutgers by 24 points. “And we’re back playing. And a great player, Mason Graham, should only be out for maybe another week, and then he’ll be back. But I thought the guys really stepped up without him there. I knew (Kenneth Grant) would have a big game. It’s awesome.”

Jim Harbaugh and the Wolverines still perfect heading into Week 5

So, despite Mason Graham not seeing action for Michigan football today during the Big Ten opener, it appears that Jim Harbaugh is confident that Graham will make his return debut soon here. Next weekend, the Wolverines hit the road to face Nebraska before continuing their road trip against Minnesota the following week.
