Michigan football: JJ McCarthy, Blake Corum earn Big Ten preseason honors

Today marks the start of Big Ten media days in Indianapolis, IN. Tomorrow, Michigan football, along with three of its star players and head coach Jim Harbaugh, will take to the podium for their own media day segment. As part of this week’s media events, the Big Ten preseason honor list was released, featuring two notable faces for the Wolverines: Blake Corum (running back) and JJ McCarthy (quarterback).

Two Michigan football standouts, Blake Corum and JJ McCarthy, earn preseason honors

The first standout from Michigan football on this year’s preseason Big Ten honor list is Blake Corum, the Wolverines’ senior running back sensation who broke records before being sidelined with a Week 12 injury last fall. For the Maize and Blue, Blake Corum’s return to Ann Arbor for one final shot at the national title could be instrumental this fall, and he may be the difference-maker that Michigan needs to win the national championship.

In addition to Blake Corum, star quarterback JJ McCarthy, a rising junior, was also named to the Big Ten’s preseason honor roll. McCarthy, a former five-star prospect, showed flashes of greatness during his first year as a starter for Michigan football last fall. Now, he is expected to take a giant step forward in 2023, possibly leading one of the most prolific offenses that Ann Arbor has ever seen.
