The Wolverines’ 2024 class continues to gain some incredible steam, and on Tuesday, two more massive commitments came Michigan’s way. This evening, the 2024 Michigan football recruiting class added another major piece: 4-star DL Jerod Smith out of Cheshire Academy in Connecticut. Smith is the 14th hard commit in the 2024 class and puts the Michigan Wolverines ahead of Ohio State for the No. 1 spot in the nation.

This evening, 4-star DL Jerod Smith chose Michigan football over many notable programs, including the Alabama Crimson Tide, Penn State Nittany Lions, and many more. Smith is a major target and is rated as a 247 Sports Composite 4-star defensive lineman. He is also ranked as the No. 270 recruit in the 2024 recruiting class, the No. 30 defensive lineman in the nation, and the No. 4 recruit in Connecticut.

Smith is huge… Literally

Jerod Smith stands at 6-foot-3 and weighs around 270 pounds heading into his final season of high school football. His next stop will now be in Ann Arbor to play for the thriving Michigan football program, and he could be a part of one of the best recruiting classes that Michigan fans have ever seen.

Smith is Michigan’s 11 commit that is a 4-star prospect or better. The Wolverines now have nine 4-stars and one 5-star (Jadyn Davis). Additionally, Michigan’s newest commit in the 2024 recruiting class is already excited about his college days. “Ann Arbor is a great city,” he told Hayes Fawcett of On3. “I’ll have a good mixture of football academics at Michigan! So it’s really why not Michigan?”
