Michigan football has seemingly had a rough week as four players have entered the transfer portal. The latest addition is Damani Dent, a former three-star defensive back who signed with the Wolverines as part of the class of 2022. Despite being a part of Jim Harbaugh’s team last year, he did not get any game time and is now seeking a new opportunity elsewhere this coming fall.

Michigan football transfer portal: Another loss for the Wolverines

This week has been busy for Michigan football as they lost four players to the 2023 college football transfer portal. It started with All-Big Ten return man AJ Henning, and was followed by former starting defensive back RJ Moten. The third player to leave was linebacker Nikhai Hill-Green, and now defensive back Damani Dent is the fourth. These departures are likely due to Jim Harbaugh’s current problem with the scholarship limit as the Wolverines are currently over the limit.

Who is Damani Dent?

Damani Dent was a three-star defensive back in the 2022 recruiting class, which ranked in the top 10 (No. 9) in the 247 Sports Composite rankings. He was ranked as the No. 65 safety in the class and the No. 106 recruit in the state of Florida. Despite being a promising recruit, Dent saw no game action during his lone season with the Wolverines. The announcement of his transfer portal entry came this morning, but it was little surprise given Michigan’s scholarship issues and the already loaded roster. We wish Dent the best of luck wherever he winds up.
