With an 89-25 overall record, three Big Ten titles, three CFP berths, and a National Championship to his name, former University of Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh is going back to the NFL via the LA Chargers. After the news broke, ex-Michigan football quarterback JJ McCarthy shared his reaction on social media.

JJ McCarthy and Jim Harbaugh will be synonymous with one another for the rest of their lives for what they did with the Michigan football program during the early 2020s. Since McCarthy arrived on campus in 2021, the Wolverines went from being a 2-4 program in 2020 to seeing an impressive 40-3 stint with a trio of Big Ten titles and a National Championship over the next three seasons.

Now, both Harbaugh and McCarthy are headed back to the NFL — Jim Harbaugh is going to the LA Chargers, and JJ McCarthy is a potential first-round NFL Draft pick come April.

On Wednesday night, after the news that Jim Harbaugh was heading back to the NFL officially broke, JJ McCarthy shared his reaction on social media (below).

Jim Harbaugh and his QB headed to the NFL

Since Jim Harbaugh named JJ McCarthy the starting Michigan football quarterback back in Week 2 of the 2022 season, the Wolverines went 27-1 overall with two wins over Ohio State, Michigan State, and Penn State; Michigan also won two Big Ten titles, a Rose Bowl, and a national title during McCarthy’s tenure as the starting QB.

These two will forever be Michigan football legends, and we wish them the best of luck as they turn a new page in the NFL.
