The 2023 college football season is eagerly anticipated by fans across the country and with good reason. Preseason football is always an exciting time, filled with hope and promise for what the upcoming year might bring; for Michigan football standout running back, Blake Corum, this preseason is particularly special. Despite suffering a leg injury 11 games into last season, Corum managed to finish 7th in Heisman voting, a testament to his exceptional talent and determination as a Michigan Wolverine.

Corum’s decision to return to Ann Arbor for his senior season has only added to the excitement surrounding him and this year’s Michigan football team. Ever since the announcement, he has been one of the hottest names in the sport, with fans and analysts alike eagerly anticipating what he will achieve in the coming year. His inclusion as the only Wolverine in the top 10 of 247 Sports’ recent ranking of the top 32 players in college football is a clear indication of the high expectations placed upon him, though there may have been a few other Maize and Blue standouts that were snubbed if you ask us.

Last season, Blake Corum was a standout player in college football, dazzling the nation with his speed, agility, and impressive running skills. Despite suffering a leg injury during the season, Corum finished with nearly 1,500 yards on 247 carries, averaging an impressive 5.9 yards per carry, and scoring 18 rushing touchdowns. He also tied Michigan football’s single-game rushing record in 2022 by scoring five touchdowns in one game. Corum played a crucial role in leading the program to a 10-0 record before his injury against Illinois.

Although Corum’s injury was a setback for Michigan football, the team still managed to down Ohio State in Columbus the following week, win the Big Ten title game against Purdue by 21 points, and nearly make it to the 2023 national championship game in Los Angeles. Unfortunately, the Wolverines fell short in the playoff semi-final against TCU by six points.

Despite Corum’s injury and Michigan’s impressive depth of running backs and star quarterback (JJ McCarthy), 247 Sports still considers him one of the top 10 players in college football. Corum was ranked No. 10 overall on the list and No. 3 in the Big Ten, behind only Penn State offensive tackle Olu Fashanu and Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. This is a testament to Corum’s incredible talent and the impact he has had on the sport, even in the face of adversity.
